Bells at St Mary’s Church
Welcome to the Ingestre bell ringers page!
We ring the bells prior to Sunday service on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month from 10.45-11.15am. Our practice evening is Wednesday 7-8.30pm with a well earned drink in the orangery afterwards!
Our bell tower is unusual in that it is an anti clockwise tower with a ring of 6 bells, which were cast by Henry Bagley and dated 1676. Our bells still bear the arms and initials of Walter Chetwynd, who left provision in his will for the bells to be cast in his will.
Ingestre has a band of 7 experienced ringers and 1 new ringer who is progressing really well and will soon be joinng the band on Sunday mornings for service ringing. We are all active members of the North Staffordshire Association of Change Ringers.
If you would like to learn bell ringing or keen to return after a break, please contact the tower captain, Debbie Baker at zingestre@nsacr.org.uk. 07905 204974.
Quarter peals and full peals are also regularly carried out at Ingestre. Please contact Debbie as above if you would like to book our bells.
